Egenera Expands Xterity Cloud Service to Asia-Pacific

Launch of Tokyo Cloud Will Deliver IaaS, BaaS, DRaaS to Resellers

Egenera, a leading provider of wholesale cloud services and cloud management solutions, has announced the formal launch of its Xterity Cloud Service in Tokyo. Xterity is now serving a total of six regions: San Jose, Ashburn VA, and Boston in the US, and Ireland, the UK and Japan.Egenera’s Xterity Cloud Services deliver a full range of dedicated, managed, private and hybrid cloud services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and Backup as a Service (BaaS), exclusively through the channel. With Xterity, resellers can quickly enter the cloud services market with no up-front capital or ongoing maintenance costs. Unlike reselling public cloud services, Xterity delivers the margins resellers need to develop a profitable cloud services business.

“Xterity will enable service providers to quickly provide flexible cloud services without upfront investment, so users can secure their data with high reliability and quality,” said Koichi Suzuki, Deputy President of Daiwa Institute of Research (DIR). “We also have a high degree of confidence in the further enhancement of Xterity so that we can enjoy and deliver easy-to-use and reliable IT services.”

With Egenera’s Xterity Cloud Service now established in Tokyo, the company is poised to gain traction in the large and growing Japanese cloud market. Research indicates that Japan and the APAC region as a whole is adopting cloud services at a record pace. According to IDC, the size of the public cloud market in Japan for 2015 is 251.6 Billion JPY (29.5% growth over 2014) and is predicted to be 540.4 Billion JPY (2.8 times of 2014) by 2019.

“2015 has been a year of growing momentum for Egenera,” said Pete Manca, President and CEO of Egenera. “Xterity’s paradigm of providing managed private, public and hybrid cloud services is a straightforward win for the channel. Our partners gain massive cost savings by using our platform as well as the peace of mind that comes from a managed service. The market is growing exponentially in Japan and we are looking forward to servicing our growing list of channel partners in this market.”
