Business Awards 2023

National Australia Bank is the largest and fastest growing small business bank in Australia*. We find out more about the bank and its ethos from Ana Marinkovic as she and her team celebrate notable recognition following a prestigious win in the APAC Business Awards 2023. Steeped in history, National Australia Bank (NAB) was formed when the National Bank of Australasia (initially established in 1858) merged with the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney (established in 1834) on October 1st, 1981. Today, the bank’s scale and connectivity helps it to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing local small businesses and the wider community, such as taking climate action, supporting affordable and specialist housing, as well as backing indigenous businesses. NAB’s purpose is clear - to serve customers well and help communities prosper. Supporting more than 1.1 million small business customers, the bank’s Small Business division sits within its Business and Private Bank. With more than 1,600 staff supporting customers in 500 locations across the country, NAB small business experts provide strong knowledge of the local economies and have empathy of the unique challenges our customers are facing. “Australian small business owners are the heart, soul and hands of the local communities, the country’s economy and its overall future,” explains Ana Marinkovic, Executive General Manager for Small Business at NAB. “They’re the engine that keeps everything running and that makes sure the mortgages get paid, plus they keep the lights on for so many families.” To this end, NAB’s Small Business strategy is focused on delivering great experiences and outcomes for our customers. To do this, NAB has; • Made significant investment in products and services that specifically serve small business customers • Delivered a digital transformation so customers can bank when they need to, from where they want to • Advocated for issues that matter for small business communities, including green finance, gender equality and cyber security awareness “Over the past two years, we’ve redefined our proposition to better serve and support our customers and colleagues,” Ana continues. “We are Australia’s largest and fastest growing small business bank and there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a business we’ve backed flourishing and the impact this has on the families who worked incredibly hard to build a better future for themselves and their employees” Digital, but human when you need it A massive digital transformation has been the cornerstone of NAB’s small business transformation. With this front of mind, the NAB Small Business team has launched various initiatives this year to strengthen the proposition; 1. Small Business Explorer (SBE): SBE was launched to give customers an online, self-serve shopping cart experience that provided a single sales application for multiple products. SBE gives customers confidence, providing them with product recommendations from across the Business & Personal product suite based on their specific needs. For NAB’s customers, SBE aims to simplify the application process, where by telling the bank what they need, NAB can suggest possible product solutions in less than 5 minutes. SBE is also an online platform, available 24/7, making sure that they are providing the right services to their customers at a time that suits them 2. Digital Business Lending: Small Business owners value faster access to funding so they can keep their business growing. With Digital Business Lending (DBL), NAB Small Business customers enjoy a seamless experience through NAB Internet Banking, and if the loan is approved, funds will be in their account in as little as one hour. 3. Simple Home Loans: Leveraging automation, pre-population and digital document execution through NAB Internet Banking to provide a streamlined experience, this is a simple solution for bankers to deliver faster outcomes for our customers in relation to home lending. 4. NAB Flex Flow Loan: It’s a fast an easy way for approved NAB merchants to access up for $125,000 to help manage business cashflow. Repayments are designed to match a customer’s cashflow^ and are made automatically through future transactions on NAB merchant facilities settled to your NAB account. For customers, the NAB Flex Flow Loan offers flexible repayment options, one upfront fee with no interest charged˜, a fast and easy application process on a loan that is tailored to suit their cashflow needs. “ We are dedicated to ensuring our customers can bank when they want to and how they want to,” elaborates Ana. “Whether that is through excellent digital tools and functionality like Small Business Explorer or the Flex Flow Loan, or, with the support of a NAB Small Business expert. Through our strategy, we are committed to making things easier, simpler and more digital for our bankers and customers.” Recently, for its dedication to serving small business owners, local communities and looking after its dedicated Leading Banking Institution 2023 - Australia Oct23263
