With a core ethos and work ethic that is firmly centred around his customer base, Wahsem Khan of Drivemaster Tyres & Auto (Drivemaster) has grown his business from the ground up. We speak to him to find out more as the company celebrates a double win in the prestigious Australian Enterprise Awards 2023. Based in Brisbane, Drivemaster Tyres & Auto is a familyowned business established, owned, and operated by Wahsem Khan. Wahsem started the company initially by selling tyres from home, however as the business grew, he moved to his own workshop and from there opened a second much larger workshop in order to keep up with demand. With core values based around safety, reliability, fivestar customer service, and reasonable prices, Drivemaster is careful to ensure that it differentiates itself from competitors in order to stand out as the best choice for potential clients. “We ensure our customers know we care for their safety on the roads, and we have reasonable prices and offer different payment methods,” Wahsem tell us. “We make it a point that we want their business all the time, not just a once off. We have free loan cars for customers convenience, and we plan for the future, not just for now.” Regarding internal culture at Drivemaster, Wahsem looks for a certain type of person when recruiting for his dedicated and hardworking team. He requires leaders and people that are passionate about their chosen career paths, constantly wanting to try to better their skillset, and individuals who possess the attributes of respect and honesty, in line with his most important core values. “We need those who can work as a team,” he states. “Who are approachable, and who can think outside of the box to achieve better workmanship for our customers.” For the right sort of person at Drivemaster, the rewards and benefits are plentiful. “We have ongoing staff training to grow with the changing environment like extra training for electric cars,” Wahsem continues. “We try to have all our staff trained in all aspects of mechanics including air conditioning re-gassing.” Recently, Drivemaster gained recognition in the Australian Enterprise Awards 2023 and received not one, but two, significant achievements. These being Excellence Award for Car Maintenance Services – Brisbane, and Customer Service Excellence Award 2023. Now, as the next 12 months looks positive, Wahsem tells us that he is geared towards building a super car centre and living by the Drivemaster motto of “driving the big future.” Despite being a relatively young company, Drivemaster already has a plethora of delights and satisfied customers, who will undoubtedly be returning to the company for further custom. “Always happy with these guys.
