Here, we speak to Trinath Tadakamalla, one of the firm’s Founding Partners, to find out more about the company. Trinath Tadakamalla has been practising law since 2004, when he graduated from NALSAR University of Law and began working as an associate at Tuli & Co. Today, he is a Member of the Bar Council of Delhi and specialises in the areas of Insurance & Reinsurance, Infrastructure, Energy (Oil & Gas), and Construction & Commercial Disputes, advising clients on a variety of contentious and noncontentious issues. When Trinath first entered the legal profession, the areas of insurance, reinsurance, and energy were largely nascent in the Indian market. This meant that he had the advantage of getting into these fields early to learn the ropes. He shares, “Over a period of time, I was able to pick up the nuances and build client relationships, most of which have lasted for a number of years and continue even now.” However, Trinath has had to overcome a number of challenges over the years. Firstly, he has had to navigate the lack of case law precedent on most new areas of law in India. As well as this, the country has recently seen an increase in demand for legal services at lower fees, so lawyers are gaining reduced rewards for their expertise. For this reason, Trinath has had to carefully balance his practice with the fees he charges in order to maintain client relationships and build expertise in specific legal areas. With a longstanding passion for his work, Trinath is proud to contribute towards various industry and client events by conducting workshops and speaking at webinars on current and relevant issues. He also lectures as a guest speaker at universities, speaking to students about arbitration and insurance laws. In 2021, Trinath established Solaris Legal alongside two other partners, Debarshi Dutta and Mrinal Ojha. With demand for fullservice lawyers decreasing, the trio set out to create a boutique law firm with a few specific areas of expertise, including litigation, mediation, regulatory disputes, cyber risks, arbitration, contentious advisory, insolvency, and white-collar crime.
