Q2 2022

APAC / Issue Q2 2022 35 ESG factors are now gaining a lot of traction as are effective solutions to them. to analyze before introducing it into the market. Time and money are spent in Research and Development at TuffChem. They collaborate with its clients and have also been working with Singapore government institutions like International Enterprise and faculties such as Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Together they have successfully developed biodegradable new organic chemical for removal of rust and carbonate which prove to be more superior than current available and often harmful chemicals available in the market. Reducing landfill and making use of Waste The need for a more circular economy is becoming a high priority for societies in many countries. In order to reduce the waste which is ultimately incinerated and sent to landfills, TuffChem has come up with a proprietary technology that uses some of the hazardous waste from the oil and gas industry and neutralize and encapsulate it into building blocks- effectively recycling the waste into usable products. As Mrs. Lim Rochstad says “we want to make a difference and be a part of the solution to make actual changes that decreases the harmful activities which threaten our resources. The world’s population has grown from 2.5 billion in 1950s to 7.7 billion in 2021 and with it, created a continuous demand for land, food, fuel and resources. With this development there are many environmental issues”. Mrs. Rochstad-Lim also pointed out that there is now more concrete action being taken to address this problem. The cost for new alternative green technologies is expensive compared to conventional ones; however, economies of scale will come into play enabling us to combat global warming. Drive productivity and improve occupational health and safety While people are the greatest asset of a company, labor shortage cannot be ignored. Tuffchem, alike others, now turn to robotic as one of the solutions. Robotic cleaning is done in storage tanks, API pits, wastewater clarifier and retention tanks as well as cooling towers. The robot eliminates man entry requirement, reduces risks and hazard post on worker. It also shortens the cleaning schedule. Tuffchem robotic cleaning include sludge reduction and water recycling. By doing so, it also reduces CO2 emission on transportation, and where applicable both solid and wastewater are treated in-plant, thus proving ZERO waste disposal for the plant. And by treating and converting waste into recyclable new products and grey water respectively, it created a value-added process and a “Circulate Economy” for the plant instead of a cost for disposal. Tuffchem services include: dryice blasting, foam cleaning, tank cleaning, chemical cleaning and on-site wastewater treatment and converting solid waste to recyclable product. The company is ISO 14001 and 45001 certified and also hold a BIZ SAFE Star level certificate. For enquiries please contact TuffChem Environmental Services Pte. Ltd.
