76 APAC / June 2017 , 1612AP05 A Seamless Service SMP Networkwas founded in 2005 by SusanNolan, a registered nurse who is passionate about the quality care and services being provided to the older person. Her hard work has been recognised, as her winning of the CEO of the Year – Australia accolade demonstrates. We interviewed her to learnmore about the services her firmoffers. Today, SMP Network has grown to cover the four major areas of elderly care, encompassing training, recruitment, nursing and home care. SMP Training Centre is a registered training organisation, providing education to individuals seeking employment, wanting to embark on a new career or just to upgrade their current qualifications. The firm’s founder, Sue Nolan is keen to tell us more about training they can supply. “We’re proud to offer our students the ability to achieve a nationally recognised qualification in a short time span. We also organise field placement for all our students, that relates to specifically to their chosen course. This service is certainly placing SMP Training Centre high on the selection list of current and future students. “One of the courses we offer is the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community). The aged care and community and home care fields are exciting fields to work in, with no shortage of employment expected over the next 20 years. Each year, the Australian government provides extra funding to aged care facilities and home care, to assist with the need of providing care to the growing number of aged people in this country.” Home care services SMP Home Care is a leading provider of home care services for seniors. SMP Home Care assists seniors with maintaining their independence and continues to live at home, whether it is help with shopping, personal care or a visit to the doctor. Sue is keen to provide more detail on how SMP Home Care can assist. “Our carers have Certificate III in Aged Care, Senior First Aid, Manual Handling Certificates and National Police Clearance. All carers are trained and qualified by SMP Training Centre, a leading nationally accredited training organisation, specialising in elderly care. In addition to their qualification and careful selection process, SMP Home Care personnel are also fully insured for all services given. “The home care services we provide include: regular needs assessment and progress reports; 24-hour emergency contact and assistance; case manager support services; personal care; meals plan, grocery list, shopping; companionship; housekeeping and laundry services; escorting to appointments or social outings; medication management and reminders; preparation for hospital admission; hospital discharge assistance – return home management; respite and convalescence care as well as pet, plant and garden care. “Daily services are identified and incorporated into a tailor-made service plan, which is regularly supervised and assessed by an assigned case manager. Included in all packages are: An assigned case manager to each client – a single point of contact; regular meetings with the case manager; individually devised service plan – to meet client specific needs and requirements; daily service record and attendance book – stationed at client’s home and written monthly progress reports.” Carer recruitment As specialist recruiters of carers for the elderly care industry in South Australia and Victoria, the firm’s vision is simple: ‘To connect quality carers with quality employers and minimise the impact, cost, time and resources required to recruit’. At SMP, they connect caring, passionate and qualified carers, so you can focus on your core business of providing quality care services to your clients. Sue provides an insight into what sets the firm apart from others in terms of its recruitment services. “SMP Carer Recruitment are specialist recruiters of carers for the elderly care industry in South Australia and Victoria. What sets us apart from other recruitment agencies is that we only recruit carers. After all it’s what we know well and do best! We are constantly on the lookout for qualified, passionate and sincere individuals looking for a rewarding career (or maybe a little extra part-time work) within the elderly care industry. So, if you would like to get in touch with over 400 elderly care providers looking for someone like you, call us and register for this FREE service! “If you are like the many elderly care providers who deliver quality care services to your clients, you will have probably experienced the frustration involved in trying to source qualified, experienced and caring individuals genuinely interested in working in the elderly care industry. It can be an exhaustive, frustrating and expensive process, often compounded by the competitive rigours of the industry and complexities of meeting employee expectations with the restrictions your model of service delivery may present.” Understanding the challenges of the industry and consulting with over 100 care workers, actively working in a care role, has enabled SMP to form a solution based response to meeting the needs and wants of both carers and the industry. The premise of their business model is simple: ‘If we recruit quality care staff with the skills, competencies and personalities required of the industry and connect them with quality employers, then carers, providers and the industry as a whole will benefit.’ The firm’s ambitions to provide a seamless recruitment service are explained by Sue, ending this interview on a strong note of optimism. “At SMP we work closely with all our clients to provide a seamless service that ensures we meet your needs. We do this because we know and understand your business and recruitment needs and can provide a timely, cost effective solution to attracting the best and brightest the industry offers.”
